Recipe for Chocolate Chilli Mousse
The spicy chilli in this simple but luxurious chocolate chilli mousse complements the dark Sicilian chocolate perfectly creating a memorable flavour and the perfect aphrodisiac Valentines dessert!
Ingredients for 2-4 servings
100g chilli chocolate such as Modican chilli pepper chocolate
50ml cream (single is fine)
Cut the chocolate into small pieces keeping back just a little to grate for decoration.
Melt in a dish over a pan of hot water. Stir well with a wooden spoon as it the chocolate melts – Modican chocolate will remain grainy but this adds to the wonderful texture of the mousse.
Remove from the heat. Mix in the softened butter cut into small pieces. Allow to cool.
Separate the eggs and add the three egg yolks one by one mixing well.
Whisk the egg whites until stiff and gently fold them into the chocolate mixture.
Pour the chocolate chilli mousse into glasses or cups and leave to cool.
Remove from the fridge the chocolate chilli mousse at least 30 minutes before serving and decorate with a sprinkling of the grated chilli chocolate.
